Terms of use

These short terms keep a free hobby project understandable and safe to operate.

Using Gridling

You may use Gridling for personal, non-commercial play. Do not deliberately overload the service, automate abusive request volumes, interfere with its security, or use it in a way that violates applicable law.

Availability

The service is provided free of charge and may change, pause, or end without notice. We aim for reliable results but do not promise uninterrupted availability or that every dictionary decision will suit every context.

No warranty

Gridling is provided “as is” and “as available.” To the extent permitted by law, the project owner is not liable for indirect or consequential loss arising from use of the service. Nothing here limits rights that cannot legally be limited.

Privacy and technical processing

Gridling uses cookie-free aggregate page measurement without visitor profiles, advertising, or cross-site tracking. Requests may include technical information such as an IP address and browser headers. Gridling may use an IP address transiently to rate-limit abusive traffic, while Vercel may process technical request data to deliver, secure, and troubleshoot the service. Gridling does not store IP addresses in its aggregate analytics database or use them to recognise visitors. Details and privacy choices are in the Privacy Policy.

Rights and sources

The Gridling name, interface, and original project material are protected by applicable intellectual-property law. Multilingual accepted-guess data is derived from FrequencyWords under CC BY-SA 4.0; puzzle-answer pools are separately reviewed to exclude names and brands. Other third-party sources retain their own rights and terms.
